Clinical Evaluation of Caroverine-Sulpyrine (Spamon^(¢ç)-comp. Inj. Tab.) on Colic Caused by Urinary Calculi



Abstract
This report is designed to evaluate the efficacies of Caroverine-Sulpyrine (Spamon¢ç-comp.) as a iipasmolytic agent in urinary colic. 30 patients were undertaken in this study. All of them were ureteral stones.
They were consisted of -T6 upper ureteral stones, 5 mid ureteral stones and 9 lower ureteral stones. This study was done at the out-patient clinic of Department of Urology, Kangnam St. Mary¢¥s Hospital.
Caroverine-Sulpyrine (Spamon¢ç-comp.) was give orally at dose of 6 tablets per day over a period of 2 to 14 days. The effectiveness was assessed by the subjective decision in 4 different arbitary level: EXCELLENT, GOOD, MEDIUM and INEFFECTIVE. The analgetic effect on 8 patietns (26.7%) proved excellent, on 14 patients (46.7%) good, on 4 patients (13.3%) medium and 4 patients (13.3%) ineffective.
A patient was observed to have a dry mouth and another 1 patient showed skin rash as a side effect, but they were not so severe and rapidly improved. No other significant untoward side effect of the drug was experienced in the trial.
According to the results of this study, Caroverine-Sulpyrine (Spamon¢ç-comp.) is very effective and safe in the management of colic caused by urinary calculi.
